Emotion is a very personal aspect of every human being. It is what separates us from the animals. Anger, love,  sad, guilt etc. We all should be aware of these emotions. We should not shy away from them but embrace them like they are a physical part of your body. The reason for this is very simple if you truly understand your feelings. Let us begin with how we make our decisions.

Our decisions can only be of two types. One which is driven by logic and the other that is driven by emotions. Let us take an example. Tomorrow we have to submit our homework, but we are very sleepy. Logical decision is to complete the work and then sleep. But you are feeling sleepy and hence you take the decision of sleeping.

Emotions lets us take a decision instantly. It is how we feel about doing such a thing. By taking these decisions we may sound completely wrong, stupid or weird , but it is a fact of life. The above example is not meant to show that emotional decisions are always wrong.

Let us take another example from the Bollywood movie 3 Idiots. The message of the movie is pursue what you really love to do in life. Our logic will say that job does not require love but knowledge. This thinking is wrong. The movie highlights the  emotional aspect about life . When we are happy in what we do, we excel in that field.

In our Indian education system, emotional stress on students is high. We need to teach them the importance of loving work. Cognitive studies have shown that students in better emotional state perform far more actively than the others.

Poetry and literature is meant to develop our emotional understanding of things, but in schools they are taught from a syllabus point of view and not for the development of the child. Understanding our emotions and embracing them does not make us weak but on the contrary makes us more mature .

Apart from studies our emotions help us in keeping our body healthy too. If we are feeling stressed or guilt, we should not keep them inside us. We should be able to talk to someone. Keeping negative feelings makes us mentally weak and we won’t be able to do things with interest.

Emotional studies being inculcated in our school curriculum will be an enormous step towards the future. Students will not only understand the world around them better but they will react in a much mature way too.

Our program Rational Sanskaar can be Added to any school parents & schools can contact us for the same.
