Burn-out ánd happiness? Mindful Trekking with outdoor psychotherapy works miracles. Burn-out is a chronic neurohormonal disruption with a recovery period of more than 6 months. By intensive mindfulness-meditation-training combined with ultra-short psychotherapy and solid physical exertion in a controlled and personal process. How exactly? All outdoors to start with. After acclimatizing in a retreat-centre, mindful trekking in utter silence commences. Meditation and therapy are offered in the morning and evening, before and after the actual trekking in silence. Healthy food, sound night’s rests and abstinence from alcohol, tabacco and smartphone. Every seventh day, at a new retreat-centre is a day of rest with focus on existentiality. Trekking stands midway between walking and mountaineering. It’s hard, at times, dangerous. All therapeutic interventions are evidence based (MBCT, EMDR, RET, ACT, logotherapy & relaxation techniques). Meditations are MBSR and Zazen. Combined, this results in a relaxed and ‘rewired’ brain, a fit and energetic body and new skills to change future (dis)stress into productivity.
